I’m a Slovak-born, multidisciplinary artist working across painting, digital photocollage, photography, and clothing. My work grows out of an engagement with identity — not least my own identity as a Slovak woman living and working in the UK — how this is shaped, performed, and expressed through colour, dress, and mood.
I cultivate an aesthetic blending symbolism and personal mythologies, filtered through a form of ‘stylised realism’, and expressed via a consciously synthetic, saccharine colour palette. My paintings emerge from internal landscapes: psychological and emotional maps that take shape through gesture, layering, and colour. These function as visual poems, translating mood and memory into form.
My digital work operates under a more symbolic guise; here I draw upon photography, collage, and image manipulation to create visual tropes and coded communications. Clothing, posture, and fragments of the body become signs — ways of expressing identity, concealment, and transformation.
Working across mediums, I fabricate a world that is idiosyncratic and rooted in personal experience; I aim to make feeling visible.
I hold an MA in Fine Art from the University of Brighton and am currently based in Brighton, UK. I am the founder and creator of the clothing brand odd Janko. I work on personal projects, commissions, and commercial briefs, bringing my unique brand of visuality into fashion, music, and art.
