A proposal for a book cover for Olga Tokarczuk's 'Drive your plow over the bones
of the dead'- a blend of murder mystery, dark feminist comedy, and a tribute
to William Blake. A Polish news agency criticized Tokarczuk’s work as “anti-Christian”
and “promoting eco-terrorism”. Tokarczuk, popular in Poland, often clashes with the right-wing government and its supporters.
I used the design of the traditional Slavic folk ribbon in bright colours to depict
the subversive, at times fantastical, entertaining feminist noir novel. The image of
the Boros beetle (which makes a thrilling appearance in the story) suggests the surreal, beguiling vibe of the book.
