I AM HER
Series of manipulated digital photographs published in KAPITAL Magazine.
This series was originally created for the August 2020 issue of the Slovak cultural magazine KAPITÁL, dedicated to Alexandra Kollontai — a revolutionary figure who challenged conventional expectations of women in political life. I chose to portray her legacy through photographic abstraction, using my physical subjectivity as a means of expression. These works balance between the abstract and the symbolic. The images were created during the pandemic, when access to public space was limited, and life and work took place in cramped conditions of absolute confinement. They negotiate the tension between the performativity of femininity and the authenticity of corporeality, which inevitably coexist in physical space. Layered and partially obscured, the female form appears fragmented and elusive, offering only momentary glimpses. The series developed into a body of work that went beyond the concept of the magazine issue and the process became a meditative practice. It reflects a heightened awareness of the body and its presence, shaped by isolation, introspection, and the constraints of domestic space.
